NFPA 1010 and the New Meter Training Standards

NFPA 1010 has updated its standard to now include basic meter training for Firefighters.

The tool that is used the most is trained the least

is finally getting a little love. All be it Im not sure departments will include a quality program like The Meter Guys provide. I worry its going to be a here is the monitor look at it, touch, turn it on and just like that your competent and the checklist is completed! Training is the bedrock of our job yet it is always one of the first things to be cut back on when it comes to budgets. Adding this requirement is so important but yet it may be just glossed over by many departments. I can't change a departments culture but what I can do is keep training as many departments and responders as possible all the time,
